Tartu University Hospital and Tartu University Institute of Dentistry issue a Medical Device Confirmation Letter for completed work ordered from our prosthodontic laboratory. We issue the letter digitally in the patient's eHealth record via eHL. The confirmation letter with paid invoice forms the basis of the warranty on the work.
For work ordered from outside the Tartu University Hospital, a printed Medical Device Confirmation Letter is provided. The bill of delivery is included with the work to indicate the cost of the work. Billing between the client and the Tartu University Hospital occurs monthly through the financial department.
Warranty periods:
Metal-Ceramic and Metal Work: 2 years
Composite and Plastic Work: 6 months
No warranty applies for repairs, temporary crowns, and orthodontic work.
Note:
- In the Tartu University Hospital Centre of Prosthodontics VITA MFT teeth are used. Please use the VITA Classic shade guide and the VITA MFT set sample for the best outcome. If you do not have the sample sets, we can provide them for a fee (depending on the supplier's price list). The sample set includes 12 sizes.
- Please take the impression with the correctly fitting impression tray to ensure all the necessary information for the technician has been included.
- Please use alginate as impression material whenever possible, as it allows for an extended model casting time (up to 5 days for some alginates).
- Ensure that the impression is clean and disinfected according to the requirements.
- Keep the alginate impression moist (use a wet paper towel and plastic bag). Ensure that the impression material does not separate from the impression tray. Otherwise, the cast may not come out precise during casting.
- After removing the impression tray from the mouth, evaluate it for inaccuracies immediately. Our technician can request a new impression if the one sent to the laboratory is erroneous or damaged.
Good work starts from a skillfully taken impression!
Ten golden rules for impression-taking:
- Choose the correct size impression tray and material viscosity according to the indications and impression technique. Use rigid and sturdy impression trays.
- Ensure proper retraction and, if necessary, stop any bleeding before impression taking to obtain a dry and clean result.
- Ensure the correct thickness of the impression material by following the mixing specifications. Place enough material into the impression tray.
- Slowly and parallelly insert the filled impression tray into the mouth of the patient along the axes of the prepared teeth. When the impression tray is at the correct place, apply pressure to avoid contact between teeth/tissue and the base of the impression tray.
- Keep the impression tray in place without applying excessive pressure and avoid movements that could change the position of the impression tray and cause distortions.
- Allow the material to be set in the mouth according to the specifications to prevent the material from detaching when removing the impression tray from the mouth.
- When removing the impression tray from the mouth, avoid rotating it in one direction. Ensure the impression material is set before removing the impression tray from the mouth.
- Check the preparation margins and ensure that they are detectable. Defects can lead to inaccuracies: gaps, tears, material distortions, flow defects, impression tray detachment, and layering of tight and liquid materials, as well as visibility of the impression tray through the impression.
- Please repeat the process if you notice any of these defects on the impression.
- Disinfect the impression according to infection control requirements as per the instructions of the material used. Rinse the impression before and after disinfection with water. Store the alginate impression in a moist environment and dry the silicone impressions before sending them to the laboratory.
- Package the impression into the secure box to avoid damage during transportation. If you cannot send the impression to the laboratory immediately, store it according to the manufacturer's instructions for the material used.
